Description:

The file echoctrl.exe is also known as the C-Media Echo Control utility. The process echoctrl.exe or the C-Media Echo Control utility performs functions included in the C-Media Mixer application. The echoctrl.exe process is normally installed along with C-Media Electronics motherboards, since these motherboards have built in on-board audio chipsets. The file echoctrl.exe provides one of C-Medias many sound effects that can be accessed in their audio-ready motherboard.

The echoctrl.exe file allows the user to turn ON or turn OFF the echo feature once a microphone is plugged into a C-Media Soundcard. This program runs on boot process and will continue to operate and detect if any microphone is plugged into the system. The echoctrl.exe process provides a function that is accessible through the system tray icon of the C-Media Mixer application. Once executed, other than letting the user activate or deactivate the program, the program also gives the user the option to increase or decrease the volume and degree of the echo. The user has the discretion of either leaving the file as it is or manually removing the echoctrl.exe file from the computer system. However, removing the echoctrl.exe file (rather than just disabling it) may affect the normal function of the C-Media Mixer application.

The C-Media Mixer is an alternative volume control program for Windows. This program is already installed in C-Media motherboards. The user can opt to leave this program in use if the user prefers the C-Media Mixers features to the standard Windows volume control.
