The process dmxlauncher.exe is a process that starts up the Dell Media Experience application.
The Dell Media Experience is offered on all Dell Dimension PCs (and some Inspiron notebooks) that are not Media Center Edition (MCE) PCs. The process dmxlauncher.exe is a main component of the Dell Media Experience. Dell touts their Media Experience software as a multimedia suite.
The multimedia suite is a set of programs that offers the end-user the ability to organize and play music and digital video files (mp3s, home videos, pictures, feature-length films, and other media). The file dmxlauncher.exe lets you play music and view photos (including slide shows with music), DVDs, and PC-based videos. The Dell Media Experience can also organize and sort all of the users media files based on the users preferences, such as the date modified, date added, author, and title. The only media source that the Dell Media Experience program will not readily access is a television tuner, as the multimedia suite was designed without TV tuner functionality.
When the dmxlauncher.exe file is initiated, a full-screen window is opened. The program allows the user to browse the media contents of his computer. If the users computer is connected to the Internet, the program dmxlauncher.exe may display artist recommendations based upon the users current music and video files.
Dell develops, manufactures, and supports technology-related products, with some of their newest products being multimedia laptops and software. Dell created the program dmxlauncher.exe and its mother application, the Dell Media Experience, as a less expensive alternative to the Microsoft XP Media Center.
