The desktopLtomanager.exe file is a component of the Lto Manager application that is responsible for synchronizing the computer with various Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled devices including HP iPaQ hw6500 PDAs which are GPS-enabled hand-held PDAs. The Long-Term Orbits (Lto) Manager software compiles the lists of data regarding the satellites orbits and the end users position in a certain time and location.
This desktopLtomanager.exe process does not load during system startup. It only activates when the end-user runs its parent application. The Lto Manager application needs the desktopLtomanager.exe program to detect the location of the end-user and saves it for future use. Once the desktopLtomanager.exe process detects the handheld device, it transfers the current set of data or information from the computer directly to the PDA and vice versa.
This means that the process file desktopLtomanager.exe has the ability to update itself as per the end users instructions. This process leads to faster data transfer with the use of a GPS connection. However, the process file desktopLtomanager.exe is not an automated application of the parent program, Lto Manager. Therefore, the applications launch and eventual performance all depend on the user of the system.
The advantage is that the desktopLtomanager.exe process transfers full control to the operator, which makes the parent program more secure. This lessens the chance of an outside source providing inaccurate and faulty data pertaining to the users current location.
However, the only disadvantage is that since the process file desktopLtomanager.exe needs the users command to start working, it does not automatically update the parent GPS software. If left unchecked or forgotten, there is a tendency for the parent program to become outdated and irrelevant and provide the user with inaccurate and old data.
Global Locate Incorporated developed the Lto Manager application. An American-based company, it has constantly focused on GPS chip and GPS navigation technology since its inception in 1999.
