Description:

Dubbed as the disc detector of Creative Technology, what the ctnotify.exe file actually does is that it detects a CD inserted in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. The process ctnotify.exe also provides its own options menu, which enables users to execute commands for the player to operate on the computer.

As part of the Creative SoundBlaster audio card drivers, the process ctnotify.exe gives the computer system added functionality not only by detecting CDs inserted in the driver, but also by automatically playing the CD that is inserted. In addition, the ctnotifier.exe file first checks the newly inserted Compact Disc to see if there is any playable audio data on it. Upon detecting such data, the ctnotify.exe process then initiates the process of instructing the audio hardware to read the sound data found on the inserted compact disc. The sound card will now automatically open the specified application in order to play the audio tracks found on the CD.

With the advantages this process offers to the computer users, the process ctnotify.exe is advised to be left running in your machine because deleting this process will inhibit the computer unit from detecting CDs and DVDs that are inserted into the drive and therefore, will not allow the automatic reading of the sound files in the disc.

As the process file ctnotify.exe is installed along with Creative soundcard drivers and runs on the background, and being an unimportant process in the computer system, it naturally utilizes low memory usage as it only occupies up to 200 kilobytes of RAM.
