The process cpunumber.exe is an executable application that allows you to enable and disable the processor serial number capability of an Intel Pentium III processor.

The cpunumber.exe application is also known as the Processor Serial Number Control Utility and it can be downloaded from PC manufacturers websites. This utility program allows you to shut off and turn on the processor serial number reading. This allows the user to choose which software programs or websites should have permission to read the serial number of their computer processor. The process cpunumber.exe application also ensures that setting preferences are strictly enforced.

When the cpunumber.exe program is activated, an icon is placed in the Windows system tray to provide the user with visual indication of the status of the processor and its serial number features. The cpunumber.exe file gives the user the option of hiding the system tray icon. This gives the user the flexibility to enable and disable the serial number anytime.
