Description:
The cpumgr.exe process is a process for system control that manages the utilization of any CPU. It is developed by Citrix. Citrix is an application software developer that was founded on April 1989 in Delaware. Its focus is to deliver application infrastructure to almost all IT Organizations.
The application cpumgr.exe or CPU Utilization Manager is a part of the Citrix Presentation Server 4.0. It is designed to give each user a fair state of the CPU by monitoring the normal priority scheduling in the operating system. Through this process, CPU time is allocated to fairly all users on the server. When active, the file cpumgr.exe normalizes the CPU usage thus smoothing the peaks that most applications possess.
The cpumgr.exe program enables administrators to easily calculate the number of users that can fit on a machine at once and the number of machines that must be purchased. The program cpumgr.exe also schedules the share that each user receives. By default, each user is assigned with a certain percentage of CPU time that is largely dependent on the number of users at a given time.
The program cpumgr.exe loads with the Windows boot process. Its registry values can be found in a multi-string system registry with the following registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ SOFTWARE\ Citrix\ CTXCPU\ CurrentVersion\ Run. The cpumgr.exe program does not have a visible window and runs silently in the background.
The application cpumgr.exe has the ability to monitor performance. It has the responsibility to see to it that the average CPU usage per session per user is being met. This performance monitoring technique is within different specific counters called CPU Entitlement, CPU Reservation, CPU Usage, CPU Shares and long term CPU usage that assists the administrator to verify functionality and optimized report.
The application cpumgr.exe launches the Access Management Console to create reports detailing on CPU usage that requires an active connection to a Resource Manager Summary Database.
