The control.exe process is a definite part of the Microsoft Windows Operating System. It is responsible for controlling, managing, and integrating the hardware of the computer. The file control.exe coordinates activities and sharing of resources of your computer when it is activated. The operating system that houses the control.exe file acts as a host for all application programs that runs on your machine.

The application control.exe offers access to Microsoft Windows Control Panel. The standard way to open a control panel is by way of clicking the start button and then the control panel button. Microsoft employs a two-display method. The first one is the Category View, wherein displays are shown in general category. The second is called the classic view, wherein icons are displayed as individual applets.

When the control.exe process is launched, it allows grouping on some of the components of the control panel in a system folder. It also determines its extension CPL, most of which are kept in folder \Windows\ system32\ and some that are part of the application software that may be kept elsewhere. CPL files can be used directly to open various features. This means that scripts and shortcuts can be made for quick access to any particular function.

The process control.exe is a general method applicable to different types of DLL files with a compatible syntax. This file lets users configure the environment of Microsoft Windows. Thus, allowing the user to view and manipulate settings.

When the process file control.exe runs, it initiates functions such as allocating memory and directing Windows to terminate communication and release appropriate DLLs that the user chose. Once completed, the Windows will send messages as notification that the user has chosen the icon that represents the control panel item. After the last message, the process control.exe frees all remaining allocated memory and unregistered private window classes that it might have registered.
