Description:

The cka.exe process is also known as the Symantec Connection Keep Alive, which is integrated into the Norton SystemWorks application. Norton SystemWorks is used to manage the systems overall performance by tweaking certain system properties. The cka.exe program, in itself, is used to keep the Internet connection alive by employing simple solutions.

As a part of the Norton SytemWorks, the cka.exe file is meant to maximize the computers networking capabilities. The cka.exe file can access and monitor the performance of the systems dial-up modem. If the program cka.exe detects fluctuations or disruptions in the Internet connection, it automatically notifies the user through a pop-up window and then suggests plausible solutions to the problem. The process also alerts the user once there are occurrences of errors in the network system. If configured correctly, the cka.exe file reconnects the disrupted network connection by itself without outside intervention, thus, minimizing the overall need for technical support, saving much time and effort.

The cka.exe programs settings can be accessed from the Norton SystemWorks interfaces Properties section. The KeepAlive process can be found along with other network related tools listed in a directory tree format found under the Connection subsection. Here users can instruct the KeepAlive on what to do whenever it detects connection interruptions.
