The file process ccregvfy.exe is an executable file and it is just a part of the main application named Norton Anti-virus 2003. The ccregvfy.exe process double checks the system registry if there are registry changes like a change in one of the values or names on the registry tree. Reports say that letting the ccregvfy.exe process to run during startup is a must, since scanning the registry is one of the most important tasks for most security software to accomplish.
Since the ccregvfy.exe file plays an important role when it comes to data protection, terminating the program while it is running would stop the process of the ccregvfy.exe file and would lead to an incomplete registry scan. The ccregvfy.exe file can be seen in the %Program Files% subsystem folder and it consumes an approximate of 200Kilobytes of system resources. The ccregvfy.exe program does not need an Internet connection since its only task is to verify that there are no sudden changes in the registry, which is located locally in the Operating System.
The Norton Anti-virus utility application is a known program for scanning infected files or files which can possibly harm the system and eventually result to system crashes or system performance issues. Like most anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-adware, and pop-up blocking applications, The Norton security software and the program file ccregvfy.exe protect the computer from malicious code so as to avoid security breach and data destruction. This security application is also capable of tagging infected files and instead of deleting infected files which could be related to the system core processes, the application quarantines the infected file so at least the marked file can still operate while preventing it from infecting other unharmed files in the system. Symantec Corporation developed the ccregvfy.exe program file together with the Norton Anti-virus Utility software.
