Description:

The bttnserv.exe process provides support for the Compaq Easy Access Buttons application that comes along with Compaqs series of multimedia keyboards. The process bttnserv.exe launches the Button Server utility for Compaq multimedia keyboards. The program was made to simplify the users experience with the systems digital entertainment functions. Without the file bttnserv.exe, the additional buttons will not work, since the process bttnserv.exe enables additional buttons for easily manipulating the speaker volume, media player, and Internet options, as well as providing stand-by and sleep buttons.

The bttnserv.exe process can be used only with Compaq PC keyboards. However, if the additional buttons are not used on the keyboard, or if the user does not have a Compaq PC keyboard, then the program file bttnserve.exe becomes superfluous and unnecessary. Another term for the program file bttnserv.exe is simply Button Server. The program file bttnserv.exe does not endanger the users computer in any way.

Disabling or enabling the file bttnserv.exe is dependent on the users needs. If the user finds the program file bttnserv.exe useful, then the user may leave it to run upon startup. The program file bttnserv.exe is not visible because it relates to the internal workings of the keyboard. The Compaq multimedia keyboard and the process bttnserv.exe are supported by Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista and even Linux and Mac.

Most of the keyboard features are plug and play via the USB-linked component. These features include easy viewing of the PC status, enabling or disabling added media buttons at anytime, and launching selected applications such as Explorer and notepad via one-touch keys.
