Turning Point Configuration Error

I’ve installed and uninstalled Turning Point two or three times last year on my PC (Windows XP, SP3, tons of RAM and disk space) and all worked fine. Now, when installing, I get error 1610 ‘configuration data for this product is corrupt’. I’ve visited all the sites I can find on the error and it’s the only game out of many I’ve installed that cause this. Any solutions?Kat Delong

Most of the time, when you get a 1610 error, it will tell you to contact your administrator or support personnel. Since it looks like you’re on your own here, you’re going to have to do a little troubleshooting to fix the problem.

First Fixes

The first thing to try is to copy the program directly onto your system and run the installation from there and see if you get the same error. You can also try to get into Safe Mode by pressing F8 on startup and try to load the disks from there. If the program loads successfully, reboot the computer and see if it will run.

Registry Error

My guess is that you are dealing with a registry problem, probably caused by a corruption in the registry that happened when the last version of the game was uninstalled. The safest thing to do in this case is to purchase and run a registry cleaner such as RegCure. You can download a free version that may find the errors for you before you purchase the program in its entirety.

Although I don’t recommend changing the registry manually, it can be done if you are very careful. Changing the registry can severely damage your machine, so if you’re not comfortable with it, this is best left to a professional. At the very least, set a System Restore point before you get into the registry so you have something to go back to if there is a problem.

Go to Start and then Run and type in: regedit. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\INSTALLER

Now you need to find the key for Features. By looking at the keys here, you may be able to find the key for Turning Point. It will probably have two entries - one for features and one for Products.  If you find them, delete both of the keys for Turning Point by choosing the key and right clicking to choose Delete. Once the two keys have been deleted, exit out of the registry and try the installation again.

I think fixing the registry will solve your installation problems and you should be able to install normally as you have in the past.

Turning Point Fall of Liberty Errors

I can’t get Turning Point Fall of Liberty to work?Susan Keenan

Is this a new installation or a game that you have previously been able to play? Are you playing it on a PC or a gaming console? I’ll offer a few suggestions for commonplace errors that occur when working with Turning Point Fall of Liberty on a PC. If you are using one of the other versions, please write back and let me know.

What is Turning Point Fall of Liberty?

Turning Point Fall of Liberty is a game that has been designed for play with Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows-based computers. The game is set before World War II and offers an alternative path for the world to follow since Winston Churchill dies much earlier in the game than he did in real life. The actual game play involves a lot of shooting action. This video game is rated “T” due to violence.

Turning Point Fall of Liberty Error: Faulty Installation

If Turning Point Fall of Liberty isn’t installed properly, then you need to reinstall it. One way that you can tell if the game is installed correctly is whether or not your computer has a dedicated folder for it. If you weren’t prompted to create a folder, then it did not install correctly and you need to do it over.

Turning Point Fall of Liberty Error: Minimum System Requirements

If this is the first time that you are trying to play Turning Point Fall of Liberty or if you haven’t updated your system in a while, take the time to check out what the minimum system requirements are for it:

  • Windows XP or Vista
  • 1.0 GB of RAM
  • 7.0 GB hard drive space
  • DirectX 9 compatible sound card
  • Compatible graphics card: either Radeon X1300 or GeForce 6600
  • Pentium 2.8 GHz or an Athlon XP 2800+ CPU

If you don’t match the minimum requirements, then the game will not run properly. Upgrade any of the system requirements that do not match the above specs. In particular, if your video card or available memory do not at least match the minimum requirements for the game, you will continue to get errors trying to play it.

Turning Point Fall of Liberty Error: Drivers

If you haven’t updated your drivers for a while, take the time to do so. Hardware manufacturers regularly update their devices to support new technologies. It’s possible an update to your graphics card will improve functionality with the game. Additionally, you can access the “Device Manager” and check for any problems with your devices. Follow any troubleshooting advice that is offered.

If you’re getting a specific error message when trying to play Turning Point, let us know and we’ll be better able to troubleshoot this problem.
