Recovering Incredimail Messages

Is your computer an Open Invitation for HACKERS? Download free version of Sparktrust Inspector to identify vulnerabilities and problems on your computer (and even your WEBSITES)!

I've been using Incredimail and it is now constantly coming up with a box saying it has to shut down. I have converted to Outlook but I need to get the emails that are currently stored in Incredimail. Help!Celeste Stewart

Finding Incredimail Messages
All of your Incredimail messages that have been downloaded are stored in a folder on your computer where you can access them directly, even if your copy of Incredimail won't run. The trick is to find the folder. This is really easy Incredimail works (go to Tools > Options > General > Data Folder Settings) and reasonably easy when Incredimail doesn't work. Here's how:

Is your computer an Open Invitation for HACKERS? Download free version of Sparktrust Inspector to identify vulnerabilities and problems on your computer (and even your WEBSITES)!

• Go to Start > Run
• Type in "regedit" (without the quotes)
• Press Enter
• Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\¬Software\¬IncrediMail
• Look along the right side for "ApplicationPath" and double-click
• Highlight the data in the "Value data" field
• Press Control + C (to copy this data)
• Go back to Start > Run
• Press Control + V (to paste the copied data)
• Press Enter

Converting Incredimail Messages
Unfortunately, your messages are in Incredimail's format and not readable by other email clients such as Outlook. You'll need to convert them in order to view them in other email clients like Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail. Consider trying either ABC Amber Incredimail Converter or Incredimail Backup PRO. These tools allow you to export the files to the .eml format which can then be imported into Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail.

Moving the Incredimail Messages
After converting the messages to the .eml format, you'll need to copy and paste them into your email client's message folder. For Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail, this is a simple matter of copying and pasting the files. If you have Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express), you'll first need to import the messages into Outlook Express before importing them to Outlook as Outlook doesn't support the direct import of .eml files.

IncrediMail Issues and Problems

IncrediMail is a commercial, advertising supported email client that is compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems and most Internet browsers. IncrediMail is popular for adding graphic technologies to emails including emoticons, ecards, sounds, animation and 3D effects. IncrediMail is graphically sophisticated and is currently available in 12 languages worldwide: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified and Japanese.

In 2001, only one year after its international launch, IncrediMail downloads reached 1 million, and its downloads are now in the millions annually. Proponents of IncrediMail laud the personalizing effects available through the program and its fun, original style that is thought to improve upon the monotony of other email clients.

IncrediMail is a free download that generates revenue with advertising and pop-ups that are written into the program. The Incredimail site supports the sale of products and services and displays external advertising. In addition to the regular Incredimail program there is also an Incredimail Gold Gallery that is available for purchase. Animated advertising is attached to the bottom of sent emails by the IncrediMail program in order to reach recipients of IncrediMail as well as senders.

Some users and critics dispute the validity of IncrediMail. It is debated on user discussion websites whether or not IncrediMail qualifies as spyware. The potential for the program to run unwanted code in the background is high due to the size of the file. The increased size of HTML emails makes Incredimail difficult to distinguish from spam in most automated filters and, as a result, some spammers have used this similarity to disguise their mail to get through filters. For users there are drawbacks to using IncrediMail because it is written in HTML and because of increased message sizes due to attached animation and embedded images. These features make messages take longer to send and require more bandwidth than text only mail. The operations of IncrediMail can slow also slow down the processes of a computer generally.

There are also legal controversies surrounding Incredimail due to the large amount of personal data the program collects. IncrediMail gathers statistics about the number of emails sent, the number and type of attachments used, and the dates and times of mail sent. Rather than refute such criticism, the risks clause included in the Incredimail software license agreement warns users of vulnerability to various security issues and does not ensure that use of the software is secure. As well, the license suggests that users may be subject to the unauthorized invasion of privacy and exposure, fraud, forgery, trespassing, and system contamination.

Incredimail looks great, and it is great

Incredimail is an Email Program with Vast Appeal

Incredimail is not your typical email client.  Granted, the basic concept is much like Outlook, the finished product simply blows other email clients out the window.  Features are crucial to any application and Incredimail delivers.

It's not Complicated

No one likes complicated software.  After downloading Incredimail, I found it was incredibly easy to set up and begin downloading mail from POP3, SMTP, and IMAP accounts.  I was amazed to find that by simply typing my email address, Incredimail was able to find the incoming/outgoing servers automatically.

After installing and setting up my email account, I discovered the wide range of customization.  Any beginner can easily change settings, import messages and addresses, and configure accounts.  The steps are straight forward and if any problems are encountered, help is available.

The help section is helpful, really

A help menu can be found upon loading Incredimail.  Not only are most questions answered through the software itself, but a help section can be found on Incredimail's website.  There are simple tutorials and thorough instructions and information for all of the software's options.

Windows only please ...

I was surprised that Incredimail is available on most Windows operating systems including Windows Vista.  The only bad side is that Macs are not yet supported.  I was also delighted to find out the program is a fairly small file to download.  Even less time to wait to use one of the most amazing email clients available.

Emoticons in abundance

Incredimail's features speak for themselves.  Everyone loves emoticons.  With literally thousands of emoticons, I can express myself perfectly.  I also love having thousands of email backgrounds at my disposal.  Suddenly my emails looked fun instead of dull and boring.  Needless to say, everyone loves receiving my emails now.

Email Notifier

One of my personal favorites is the email notifiers.  Animated characters appear on my screen every time an email arrives.  So not only is sending email a treat, so is receiving.  No dry answering machine voice, but fun voices to let me know a new email is waiting.  Animations are also available for me to insert into my messages so my friends and family can enjoy their email as much as I do.

3D Effects

Another fun feature is the 3D effects.  I never imagined email could be so animated.  Incredible truly makes email come alive.  Every time I send, receive, or delete an email, much more happens than just a button click.  My message can fly, float, ripple, and much, much more.

Premium version has even more

Incredimail has a free and premium version.  The free version offers fewer emoticons, animations, and backgrounds.  You also have to deal with advertisements.  I did not like the idea of have commercials in my emails, so I upgraded.  The choice is really up to the user.  There are still many features available completely free.

Even though I was wowed by all of Incredimail's unique features, I was relieved to see the basics were still there.  Incredimail even make the basics fun and easy to use.  There is the ever useful spell checker that checks as you write and typewriter sounds to make typing fun again.  The personal handwritten signatures are not only cute but make messages even more unique.

Compliment your emails with Snazzy Animations

Adding media to emails is incredibly easy as well.  I was able to preview multimedia files before actually attaching.  Not only that, but you can capture animations from the internet to use in your messages.  All the while, a flash window displays the current time and the status of your message.

Naturally, a vast amount of fonts are at your disposal.  I couldn't believe all the unique fonts.  In addition to the fonts, sounds can also be added to create an even more enjoyable, personalized email.

Perhaps the only true downfall to Incredimail is that it can tax your system at times.  With so many features, this is bound to happen.  I was still pleasantly surprised to find that this did not really interfere with my normal activities.

The Email of tomorrow

This is really the email client of tomorrow.  I would recommend this to everyone who loves sending fun, unique emails.  Forget about dull and drab and say hello colorful and animated.

What is Incredimail?

Susan KeenanDesigned to create a fun and enjoyable experience with creativity in mind, Incredimail is an email client application, better known as an email program that provides a wide variety of interactive and multimedia options. It is available in a number of languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and a few other languages, tailoring it to more than just a few English-speaking countries. One of the nicest features about Incredimail is the ability to view a demo of the application in order to help you decide whether it is something that interests you or not.

This easy-to-use email program does not compromise on functionality so it also includes quite a number of advanced features in addition to basic ones, promoting its use by advanced computer users who can enjoy its interactive nature. Not only is Incredimail user friendly, but also, it is highly customizable, allowing its users to reflect their personality ever-so-clearly through creative stationary options and multimedia features. Every individual can decide whether to use any of the advanced features or not. In fact, this software is designed in such a way that users can learn a single feature at their leisure, leaving all of the others for a future session.

Incredimail offers a number of different email backgrounds, something that has become quite popular over the last few years. Plus, a number of add-ons enhance the emailing experience. These letter creator features include 3D effects, sound effects, and animation. The rich graphics that are available with Incredimail are one of the most popular features.

Additionally, Incredimail offers the opportunity to send e-cards rather than emails. This is a terrific feature for those individuals who prefer to send virtual cards rather than hard copy cards through snail mail. Plus, it isn't necessary to add all of the razzle and dazzle with each of your emails, so you still have the option to send a more standardized version through a simple text message.

The free version of Incredimail is an ad-supported one that is available as a free download from their website. Incredimail Premium is a paid version that is also available for download from their website. This paid version does not include any of the advertisements that are found with the free version of Incredimail. I would recommend upgrading to the paid version for anyone who finds paid advertisements annoying or distracting.

Incredimail can be used to send emails to family, friends, and even business associates.

Utilizing both audio and video embedding in the email messages along with the typical text feature, emails sent through Incredimail can easily be received through other email servers, provided the Incredimail format has been enabled. There's no need to install any plug ins or to download Incredimail in order for these recipients to view the emails.

Plus, it isn't necessary to incorporate sound or video with all emails that are sent using the Incredimail application. A special preview function does exist that allows Incredimail users to view attached media files such as movies, images, flash, and sound.
