Susan Keenan Problems with Internet Explorer can be related to outdated versions of the browser, spyware, and viruses. It is important to attempt one solution at a time so that you can determine the problem and try to avoid it in the future.

Internet Explorer Performance Issues, Viruses, and Spyware

Many of the performance issues experienced with Internet Explorer are due to the existence of spyware on the computer. Spyware can disrupt your computer’s performance and prevent certain applications from running properly including the browser. If this is the problem removing the spyware should solve the problems that you are experiencing.

Internet Explorer and Spyware/Virus Removal

Whenever you first begin to experience any type of problem with your browser, it is a good rule of thumb to run an anti-spyware/anti-virus application. If you already have one, run it now. If you don’t have one, you should since cyber space is full of undesirable applications, many of which attach to the IE browser.

You can readily obtain free anti-spyware/anti-virus applications such as Spybot, AVG, or Ad-Aware. A paid version for Ad-Aware is also available. Since not all anti-spyware/anti-virus applications are made equally, it is important that you do a bit of research to determine which of these applications is going to solve your computer problems. Sometimes it is necessary to run more than one of the free versions in order to have full protection.

I can recommend XoftSpySE from ParetoLogic. This application scans and removes undesirable parasites form your computer. You can access it by visiting: XoftSpySE Anti-Spyware. Once the spyware has been removed from your computer, you should discover that it returns to its previous state of optimal performance. Additionally, I can recommend ParetoLogic Anti-Virus Plus (virus and spyware protection), which you can access by visiting: ParetoLogic Anti-Virus Plus.

Internet Explorer and Updates

Whenever performance issues arise, it is also a good idea to ensure that you have updated to the latest version of your Internet Explorer. Today’s version of Internet Explorer 7 can be accessed at the following link: Internet Explorer Upgrade.

Alternatives to Internet Explorer
One of the options that you have available is to switch your browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. You can get a free download by visiting: Mozilla Firefox. This browser is not open to as many performance issues as Internet Explorer.

Removal of Spam Mail

If the inability to delete your spam mail is a new problem, then the issue might be related to the presence of spyware or a virus. Running an anti-spyware/anti-virus program should resolve the issue.

If it is an ongoing issue, then you should check the advanced settings of your POP server. Simply check the tools or preferences for your email set up and make sure that the function for deleting junk mail has been enabled.

If you have your email rerouted from your primary email client server to a secondary email client server, make sure that both of them are enabled to allow your trash folder and spam folder to empty. One important fact to remember is that the spam mail is going to reappear if the trash bin had not been emptied on the initial email client server. If you go to the web page for your email client server, you should be able to find out how to check the frequency of the emptying of the trash in your mail settings.
