Many computer users understand that updating device drivers periodically is smart - and necessary. However, while they may have good intentions as far as updating their device drivers goes, they also find that doing so is a major chore. DriverCure automates this process and ensures that all device drivers are current. Regular scans and updates further ensure updated drivers throughout the computer’s lifetime.

Updating device drivers keeps the computer running at its best because each newly released driver typically repairs known bugs and conflicts as well as adds improvements. Instead of living with hardware conflicts, you can take a proactive approach by updating drivers. The same is true of software updates. Regular scans and scheduled updates ensure that your computer is equipped with the most current and correct drivers and software updates with very little user interaction required. Since it is so easy to use and automatic, the days of manually searching for, downloading, and installing updates are over.

How it Works

First, DriverCure scans your computer system, identifying all hardware, peripheral devices, and software programs installed. DriverCure keeps track of this inventory and regularly searches for updated device drivers and software updates. When new versions and updates are found, DriverCure selects the appropriate version for your operating system, device, and software and downloads it.

The DriverCure utility requires a yearly subscription which entitles you to frequent updates, ensuring that your computer has access to the latest driver and software updates available.

How do I Update NVIDIA Video Card Drivers?

Driver Genius 8 - DownloadFast, Easy Driver Update Scan

Download Driver Genius 8!

This software is updated every day and has 1 Million+ drivers in its database.

Click Download link above to scan your system and download NVIDIA Video card drivers and all the latest driver updates for your system.

NVIDIA Drivers: Where to Get and How to Install

You’ve recently had to reformat your hard drive, install your operating system, and you’ve lost the installation disk for your NVIDIA video card. Or, you just want to upgrade to the latest drivers for your card. Doing either of these can be easier than you think, and can be done in a matter of minutes.

Which NVIDIA Video Card

If the device is not already installed, it will be necessary to remember the NVIDIA type of video card you have. Was it a GeForce, GeForce M/Go, Quadro, nForce, Tesla, or a Legacy? If none of these sound familiar to you, you may want to go digging through all your old paperwork for the manual, or even the invoice.

Go to the NVIDIA website, click ‘Download Drivers’ right under the company logo. On the drivers download page you will have two options. The first is to manually search for the drivers you need. With this choice you will need to know the product type, product series, your operating system, and choose the language.

The NVIDIA Website

Choose your options, and then click the search button. When the next page appears, look for your driver. For example: You have a GeForce 5 FX series video card. Click search, and on the next you’ll see the driver details, size of download, and the version number. Below that, under the Release Highlights tab, you’ll notice that the driver also supports the GeForce 6, 7, 8, and 9 series GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit).

Read the NVIDIA Software License Agreement, check the box which states that you agree, and click the Download Now button. Depending on your internet connection speed, this could take a while.

With Windows XP or Vista you may see a drop down security box. Right click it, and then click on Download file. You’ll then get a pop up box which asks you whether you want to Run the file from its current location, Save it to your hard drive, or Cancel. (On older Windows operating systems the options are the same except there won’t be a security warning.)

If you have a fast connection, choose the Run option. This will install the drivers on your computer directly from the NVIVIA website. Please note: If you’re using Windows Vista, you will also have to have administrator privileges, and click to continue.

Saving it to your hard drive will save you time later if you make a drivers CD for your computer. Doing this will require you to double-click the installation exe file, and then you will need to follow directions from there on.

Alternatively you can Find and Update NVIDIA Drivers Automatically

The second option, new to the NVIDIA website and still in prerelease, is to automatically find the drivers. This option may not work for you until the official release. NVIDIA makes a wide variety of graphics cards and motherboards, so you will have to choose whether to download the graphics drivers (In the case of a video card), and the motherboard drivers (If you have a motherboard with an NVIDIA chipset).

In the event you can’t find information about your NVIDIA graphics card because it came as part of a major retailer’s system (Dell or eMachines for example), click the support button at the top-right of the screen. Look to the left of the screen, and click Hardware Support. You will be presented with two options there. Click the More Info button under the one which states that your NVIDIA graphics card or motherboard came as part of a computer purchase. Click the type of computer you have, and then follow the directions from there.

After installing your new drivers, rebooting your computer, and setting up the options you want, go and have fun on your computer.

And the Easiest way to Update your Drivers is …

You guessed it - Why bother with trying to update one driver at a time, and run the risk of doing serious harm to your PC?

Keeping your drivers up-to-date and your computer problem-free is as easy as downloading one simple tool - Driver Genius.

This software will match the correct drivers to your system every time!

Should I be wary of Device Drivers?

Scan your PC and get all the latest Device Driver updates automatically!

Should I be wary of Drivers?

Although no inherent dangers are attached to device drivers, the opportunity does exist for complications to arise to the functioning of your computer and the hardware attached to it. What could be more frustrating than installing a new hardware peripheral along with its driver only to have it fail to perform its task?

You are quite sure that you have installed the driver properly and yet, you receive the warning that the device cannot be detected. Should this make you immediately suspicious of the driver? Should you wonder if the driver that you installed is faulty in some way? Or perhaps, you should suspect that there is something inherently wrong with the driver that you have installed. After all, you know that you have installed the driver that came with the hardware, so of course you are going to wonder why it isn’t working.

In some cases, the difficulty lies not in the device driver, but it lies in the compatibility of the driver with other programs that have been installed on that specific computer. In fact, this is the reason why you receive the message that the computer cannot locate the device itself. The driver is not functioning correctly due to glitches in its ability to get along with all of the many other drivers and programs on your computer.

In fact, the operating system might attempt to communicate to the hardware, but the driver is not able to communicate with the operating system. Hence, you receive the message that your device has not been identified. Typically, this is due to the installation of an incorrect driver.

Additionally, a faulty installation of the driver can lead to a lack of service. If the driver has not been fully installed, then it cannot perform its task correctly. When this occurs, a simple reinstallation or even an updated version of the driver can alleviate that specific situation.

Unfortunately, one of the easiest ways to develop a wariness of device drivers is to install one that has been piggybacked with a computer virus. Since viruses become embedded in files of many types, the possibility does exist. Obtaining your device driver from a reputable source such as the manufacturer’s installation disk for the device or the manufacturer’s website is the most reliable way to ensure that no viruses are attached to it.

How many kinds of Device Drivers are there?

Scan your PC and get all the latest Device Driver Updates automatically!

How many kinds of Device Drivers are there?

A diverse lot of device drivers is available simply because of the diversity of hardware devices. When a device driver is written, it is done using the information about the target device including the specific model number and manufacturer of the device. Additionally, the operating system must also be taken into consideration.

Therefore, this leads to a wide array of devices, each of which is specific to a particular piece of computer equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, monitor, sound card, scanner, printer, modem, as well as any number of other hardware peripherals that a computer might be connected to. As technology advances creating an even greater number of electronic and digital devices that can be attached to our computers, an even greater number of device drivers are also created. Therefore, for each MP3 player, video camera, digital camera, iPod, and USB device, a driver is also created.

Each piece of equipment is designed quite specifically by the manufacture in order for it to function properly; it requires a specific device driver that has been designed to recognize its needs and specifications for functioning properly. Therefore, while device drivers for similar pieces of hardware might share many aspects, each has been individualized to take into consideration the specific features of the device for which it has been created.

Additionally, due to the vast number of generic drivers, there is a greater quantity of device drivers above and beyond the number of individual hardware equipment. As least as many different types of device drivers exist as there are types of computer hardware.

Each device driver is set up with commands that are pertinent to the specific hardware as well as the specific device driver. Although the driver might initiate an action by first intercepting a generic command, the command is then translated to one that is specific to the device.

Why do Device Driver errors occur?

Scan your PC and get all the latest Device Driver updates automatically!

Why do so many errors occur with Drivers?

Unfortunately, device drivers are just as susceptible to corruption as any other type of program or file on a computer. One of the primary causes of driver corruption is the presence of viruses or spyware. A virus can be responsible for the deletion of files and programs including device drivers. Another unexpected cause of driver malfunction is an improper shutdown. Quite often, when a computer isn’t shut down properly, files are lost or at the very least damaged.

As with any other program on your computer, human error is another problem that can manifest itself through the accidental deletion of one or more device drivers. While it is possible for someone who is familiar with computers to accidentally delete a driver, it is even more likely with someone who does not have an extensive knowledge of computers, operating systems, and the hardware that is often used on them.

If you start noticing minor errors with the functioning of your computer’s hardware, the problem could fall within the scope of the failure to properly upgrade the device drivers. As technological advances are made and as people upgrade their computer’s operating system, an upgrade in the device drivers for the hardware is essential.

Whenever your hardware begins to exhibit signs that it is not functioning properly, this could be an indication that it is time to update the drivers. In fact, updating your device drivers on a regular basis might enhance the performance of your hardware. This is primarily due to the enhanced communication offered by the driver between the computer and the hardware.

Since technology is constantly changing, updating the device drivers for your equipment becomes a normal part of maintenance. Simply because newer versions have been manufactured for each type of hardware does not mean that you need to go out and upgrade your equipment. In most cases, simply updating the drivers is sufficient to keep you up to date.

If your equipment does not work properly, the most likely culprit is a faulty device driver. Since drivers are specific to the operating system that exists on your computer, it is important to realize that you might need to update your drivers if you update your operating system. Once you reinstall your driver, the hardware should begin working properly again.

In some cases, the manufacturer detects problems with a device driver after it has already been released to the public. Whenever that occurs, the manufacturer usually updates the driver to include any necessary modifications. Additionally, whenever the manufacturer implements new technology for its devices, these improvements or additional features are included in an updated version of the driver. Typically, the device functions on an improved level after such modifications are implemented. This equates to a newer and improved version of the hardware at no additional cost since the driver updates are free.

In some cases, device drivers can experience a conflict with other installed drivers, leading to errors. In many cases, updating the drivers can readily solve their problem for you.
