Kodak viewing software

Hi. I have some CDs I am trying to download. Which Kodak software is best for me to be able to download my CDs onto my computer and view later? I had one previously, but can’t find. Please reply.

Susan KeenanTypically, digital cameras come with software CDs that include applications that will allow you to manage, edit, and share your photos. Kodak is one of the companies that makes photo software readily available online.

Kodak EASYSHARE Software

Kodak EASYSHARE Software is designed to allow users to organize and share their photos and videos with others. The download can be accessed by following this link: Kodak EASYSHARE. This link also allows you to check out a full demo of this software’s capability.

Kodak EASYSHARE: Organize Pictures

This Kodak software allows you to tag your photos for easy photo management. Additionally, you can rate your photos so that you can tell at a glance what type of quality the photo has. Both the tagging and rating features allow you to search for photos easier using the keyword or star rating. You can even use both features. Plus, this software allows users to organize their photos by dates, tags, or star ratings. Even if you lose track of your photo’s location, Kodak EASYSHARE doesn’t.

Kodak EASYSHARE: Create

Kodak EASYSHARE software includes a variety of editing features including reducing red eye, cropping photos, and enhancing pictures. Additionally, you can add text to photos simply or provide a facial retouch. With this software, you can create all types of cards to send or give to others including invitations, birthday, and thank you cards. Moreover, if you are really into photo creations, you can use this software to order gifts online using your photos. Video clips can easily be edited using Kodak EASYSHARE to add music, trim, splice, or rotate the images.

Kodak EASYSHARE: Share

With Kodak EASYSHARE software, you can easily email your photos to others. The software is designed to optimize the photo size automatically for sending it through email. Plus, it’s a cinch to create an online photo album using this software. Additionally, printing photos using Kodak EASYSHARE is a simple task that almost anyone can do as long as they have this software downloaded and a printer.

Homegrown Advice

Hilariously, some initial research returned numerous instances of users reporting the following advice working for their cameras that were displaying the same symptoms as yours - whack the camera against your hand and blow hard into the lens.

Be Careful Not to Invalidate your Warranty

I’m not sure that I want to support this advice, especially since whacking your camera around might ruin any chances you have with your warranty and cause another set of problems, but these users report that the problem is with the lens device and a few wiggles and puffs while the camera was turned on were enough to jar the problem out.

Lens Extraction Error

Another tip is to, very gently, pull the lens out when it is on its way out, to make sure that it can extend completely. The suggestion here is that the lens isn’t fully extending, which causes the camera to retract it and try again. If this is the case, there is probably a problem with the spring loader that extends and retracts the zoom lens. Turn the camera off. Then, turn it on again and gently help the lens reach its full extraction, without pulling on it too hard. Once the lens reaches its capability, it will work normally. Of course, this advice only works if you have this problem rarely, if this is a regular deficiency, first, check your warranty and, if you are still covered, you might consider sending it into Sony for maintenance.

See a Technician

If you are looking for a more conventional, and more technical, response to your question, I would have to advise that you take your camera into a local shop. If you take it in to the shop where you purchased it, a technician there might be able to fix it, likely following the non-technical tips discussed here, but at least it won’t invalidate your warranty.

Troubleshooting Digital Cameras

While these tips won’t address your specific error, there are some general troubleshooting steps for digital cameras that might help. First, check the batteries, take them out, wiggle them around and put them back in to make sure there is a good connection. You can follow the same steps with your memory stick, just to make sure that everything is lining up properly.

Celeste StewartThe Kodak Easy Share C813 Digital Camera

The Kodak Easy Share C813 digital camera is part of the Easy Share family. It contains 16MB of internal memory as well as SD card expansion slots for even more photo capacity. An optional docking station makes transferring the photos from the camera to the computer a simple matter of pressing a button. However, because it is optional, many users do not have this option and must instead install software and then physically connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable.

Installing the Software

The software comes on a CD. Under normal circumstances, all you would need to do is insert the CD and follow the prompts for installation. However, it sounds like this one doesn’t appear to have the “autorun” feature enabled. Another possibility is that the CD could be bad. Let’s first see if you can manually locate and launch the CD.

Manually Exploring the CD

After insert the CD into the drive, go to the Start button, right-click it, and choose Explore. Once Windows Explorer is up and running, look for the CD drive, most likely the “D” drive. Is anything showing up? If so, look for setup.exe within this window. If not, the disc may be bad in which case you’d need to contact Kodak for a replacement.

Alternately, you can go to the Start button, choose Run, and then type in D:\setup.exe (with “D” being the drive letter of your CD drive).

Downloading the Easy Share Software

If you determine that the CD is no good, you can either call Kodak (1-800-235-6325) for a replacement CD or you can download it online using this link. The download should take under ten minutes if you have high-speed internet access. If you’re on dial-up, it’ll take well over two hours.

Transferring Photos from the Camera to the PC

Once the software has been installed, you can manually transfer photos by turning off the camera, connecting it to the PC via a USB cable, and then turning on the camera. Your computer should recognize the device and begin the download.

Hopefully these tips will get your digital camera to cooperate with your computer and you can begin sharing your photos.

Kat DelongCodecs

Most of the time, no video showing in Windows Media Player means that you are missing the codecs required to play the video. A video codec is a device or software that allows for compression or decompression for digital video. If the exact codec that is needed for a particular video isn’t installed on your machine when you try to play a video you will most often get audio, but not video.

Windows XP only has a limited number of codecs installed by default, and you may not have what you need on your machine to play video. Before you go and download additional codecs, there are a few easy things to try to see if it solves your problem.

Adjust Windows Media Player

In Windows Media Player, go to Tools, Options and Performance and then Advanced. Find “use video mixing renderer” and uncheck it. This has worked for some people who are having similar problems.

Download Windows Media Player Again

You can also download Windows Media Player again, but save it to a different folder. This may not work, but it is easy to try and has had limited success for a no video problem

Scan for Codecs

As I said, the most likely cause for Windows Media Player not showing video is that you are missing codecs. If you are not comfortable with your computer, you may want to have someone who is more tech savvy take this on for you. You can find a good tool called the AVIcodec analyzer by clicking on the link. This will scan your system and see what you are running.

Many users with similar problems have downloaded DivX Video codec, and this has solved their missing video problem. You can get a free 15 day trial download to see if it works before you buy it for $19.95. Once you buy the program, you get the DivX Pro codec as well as a media player for all of your video needs.

Finding and installing the right codecs should solve your Windows Media Player problem, but it doesn’t hurt to try the easy fixes first.

How to play MP3s on pc

I place my recorded mp3, and mpg into the tower correctly, but annoyingly, frustrated beyond belief. How can I listen to my music on my PC when I’m even unable to hang the settings for me to enjoy my music in comfort? It seems to be the only pleasure I have left. If you could help rectify this seemingly impossible task then I would deeply appreciate it very much.

Kat DelongI’m going to have to make a few assumptions in order to solve your problem. Mp3 files, also called MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 files, are music files that have been saved in a digital encoding format. You may need to download a specific media player in order to play the specific files you are downloading.

Sound Card Drivers

Let’s check your audio system first. Are you getting any sound at all through your speakers? The first thing to check is that your speakers are working, that the mute is not checked on your audio volume and that there isn’t a problem with your audio drivers. You can find your audio drivers by using a program such as Driver Genius or Driver Detective or find who made your driver, and download an updated driver from the manufacturer’s website. You can find the driver by following these steps:

  1. Find My Computer.
  2. Choose Properties, then click on Hardware.
  3. Click on the Device Manager in order to expand it. This should tell you what sound card you have.

Once you’ve checked you audio system, we can move onto compatibility issues.

Windows Media Player

If you are running Windows, you probably have Windows Media Player installed. If you need to get or update Windows Media Player, click on the link to download what you need. While this program can play many audio and video files, it won’t play mp3 files that have been downloaded on iTunes.

iTunes

By far the most popular way to play mp3 files is by downloading them from iTunes. You can then play them on your PC, burn them to a CD to play in another music device or put them on your iPod or other mp3 player. In order to play your iTunes music on your PC, you need to download the iTunes Jukebox from the Apple website.

Adobe Flash Player

In order to play files with the .swf file extension, you need to get the newest Adobe Flash Player downloaded onto your PC. This is used to play most web-based video and audio on your PC.

Vista Driver Problem

There is a very specific problem for people running Vista on Dell computers. If this is your situation, and you have a Sigmatel Device, there is an error caused by a line in the registry that is bypassing Windows on your sound driver and you need to get into your registry to fix it. Follow these steps:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Type in regedit into the search box. Press Enter.
  3. You may need to click on Continue to open the Registry Editor.
  4. On the left side of your screen, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Go to Software, then Microsoft. Then go to Windows, CurrentVersion and Audio.
  5. Find DisableProtectedAudioDG. Double click on it, and change the number to 0.
  6. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Hopefully, by checking your audio settings and downloading the player that you need, you will be able to sit back and listen to your music in comfort. If you still need additional help, please let us know if you are getting any error messages, what system you are using and how your are downloading the mp3 files. We should be able to take it from there.

Kat DelongDepending on how many songs you have that you want to load up to Media Player, there are a few ways to do it.

Burn Tracks to CD

If you can get into iTunes, the easiest way to move music is to burn it to a CD. There is an option in iTunes to convert your music to MP3 files, but if you click on it from a direct iTunes download, you will get the message: Protected files cannot be converted to other formats. If you burn the music to a CD first, it will convert the music to MP3 files when you open the CD in iTunes. In iTunes:

  1. Go to Edit, then Preferences and then General.
  2. Click on Import Settings, then click Ok.
  3. Right click on a music track and you can convert to MP3.

If you have a lot of music, it will take a lot of CDs to get them converted. In this case, you can do pretty much the same thing with a virtual CD drive such as CD Emulator. You can find CD Emulator here: http://www.ztekware.com/ .

Music Bridge

If you have your iTunes files on your hard drive, you can run a synchronization program called Music Bridge. It does not copy the data, rather it duplicates the meta-data between Media Player and iTunes. Check here: http://jrmwillis.googlepages.com/ and see if that is an option for you.

M4a Software

There is software that says it will copy the contents of your iPod to any folder on your computer. I haven’t used it personally, but I haven’t seen anything negative regarding this software. There is a free trial download here:

http://www.ipod-computer.com/iPod-Transfer/index.html?ad=adsense&gclid=CIKf1-ucuZYCFSJIagod4ih0Kw .

3ivx has software that will let you convert .m4a files for personal use. It has you choose what operating system you are running and then download the program for $19.95. Find that here: http://store.3ivx.com/3ivxStore/ .

Fixing QuickTime

I’m wondering if you fully uninstalled QuickTime before you attempted a reinstall. If you left traces of the original program, it won’t reinstall properly. After you uninstall QuickTime, you need to run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 . You will select QuickTime from the list of installed applications and then click Ok. This will remove all traces and allow for a clean install of a new version. In the end, this may be the best solution so that you can get iTunes back on your machine and not worry about converting your files.
