Since the game works initially and it is only after time passes that it begins to crash and burn, the problem is probably not related to the game CD. Try downloading the enhancing product on a fresh boot up of the computer to see if that helps. Contact the manufacturer of the game and ask for assistance with this issue. If it is a known quirk, they will be able to offer you some options.

Flight Simulator 4 Crashes: System Requirements

One of the first steps to take before even purchasing a game is to look at the minimum system requirements for it. I imagine that you probably did so, but just in case, look at them now. If your system barely meets the system requirements for the game, this could contribute to the problems that you are having with the game. If your system does not meet the requirements, then this is definitely the problem. This type of game is a real hog when it comes to computer resources, you might want to consider adding some RAM.

Flight Simulator 4 Crashes: Manufacturer Tips

Read through the documentation for the game to see if you can pick up any tips. You can also visit the website for the manufacturer of the game and check the support section for tips on how to handle this particular problem. If a forum exists, see if any other players are having the same issue. Many gamers will offer help on how to fix game related problems simply because they have been through the same thing themselves.

Flight Simulator 4 Crashes: Heat Related Issues

Although I rarely play computer games, my sons are frequent fliers when it comes to flight simulators. One of the biggest problems with this type of game is overheating the computer. The fastest way to check this out is to open up the tower carefully by removing one of the sides. Do this when the computer is turned off to avoid shocking yourself or damaging the computer. You might as well check out the dust situation while you are at it because this can also contribute to overheating. Carefully remove the dust from the computer.

Turn the computer back on and see how the game plays while the panel is still off. Removing the tower panels allows the air to circulate and the computer to cool. If the game does not freeze and crash, you have a heat related problem. The fan for your computer might need to be replaced. This is one of the cheaper options that you have open.

Flight Simulator 4 Crashes: Graphics Card

The possibility also exists that your graphics card is not up to speed and is leading to a lot of the problem including heat. While this could also be caused by overworking the processor, replacing the graphics card is much less bothersome and expensive. Consider this one of your troubleshooting options.

Flight Simulator 4 Crashes: Overworking the Processor

If the game is overworking the processor, this will also lead to a freeze in gameplay and resultant crashes. Replacing the processor should be your last resort, since this is also the most expensive option you have.

Registry Error

What you’re seeing is a registry error that is associated with Windows Installer, so it makes sense that it is happening when you are trying to load a game. It is caused when there is an invalid file key in the installation that has no reference in the file table. This will cause an installation to fail until the registry problem is fixed.

Manually Fixing the Registry

There are ways to find the problem in the registry and delete it, but I’m not going to outline it for you here. The registry can be a tricky thing and changing anything in it should only be handled by someone who is very tech savvy. An incorrect modification of the registry can lead to much bigger and more permanent problems.

Download a Registry Cleaner

The best way to fix registry errors is by using a reliable registry cleaner. Two of the best areRegCure and Max Registry Cleaner. These programs will analyze and fix your registry either automatically, or with manual controls, scan for invalid shortcuts and check for invalid path or files. Most programs come with a free scan and a trial program so that you can see what they can do for you.

Run Antivirus Software

The best way to avoid registry errors is to regularly update your operating system and run antivirus software. We have a good review of antivirus software on our site here if you are looking to get additional protection. I always recommend running more than one program to increase your chances of catching any bad stuff that comes your way.

Follow the steps above, fix your registry, and then make sure you keep your computer free of malware and you shouldn’t have any more problems with your downloads. Even if you don’t want to continue to try and download this particular game, I would suggest taking these actions, as a registry error indicates that there may be other problems with your system.

There are a few things you can do to try to get Yahoo Pogo games working again. Try each of these things in order and we’ll see if we can get you back on.

Check for Trojans

You may have a problem with malware. Make sure that you are running good malware programs such as Spybot Search and Destroy, Antivirus Plus and Ad-Aware. If you are looking for a review of antivirus software, there is a good article on our site. It is always a good idea to run more than one program to increase your chances of catching everything that comes through.

Clear Your Cache

If your cache is full, it will sometimes stop you from playing Yahoo games. In Windows Explorer go to Tools Settings and delete the browsing history, the cookies and site visits. Once the cache is empty, you may be able to play games.

Adjust Your Privacy Settings

The problem may be coming from your Java download. If you have Java, you can make sure that your computer is allowing it by checking your privacy settings. Go to Start and then Control Panel. Choose Internet Options and then click on Privacy. Choose Add Sun Microsystems to the list. Click Ok.

Reinstall Java

If Yahoo games aren’t working right, chances are there is something wrong with the Java program you are using. If you need to check which version you are running, click on the link to Java test . This will automatically analyze which version you are running and give you information about it on your system. If you need to upgrade, go to Java download and install it on your machine. If it is showing that you have Java downloaded but you are still having problems, you might want to uninstall Java and then go to the website and do a clean download. Do this by going to Start and then Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs. Find the Java program, delete it and then download a new version.

If you’ve reinstalled Java and it still isn’t working, we may need more information. Are you getting any error messages when you try to play? Are you seeing the website or are the games refusing to load? Hopefully, these fixes will have you up and playing. If not, let us know and we can try to help you further.

The good news is that this is totally normal. The bad news is that there isn’t much you can do about it. Gaming puts stress on the computer so it gets warmer internally and the fan runs faster to cool it. Anything running videos or graphics is likely to cause the computer to heat up. The loud sound you hear is the fan running at top speed - annoying but effective.

Adjust the Fan Speed

If the sound is really annoying, there are things you can do to adjust the fan speed, although I wouldn’t recommend them. I’m going to tell you about these simply as information not as something I think you should do. In my opinion, the fans are running for a reason and slowing them down may make your computer overheat and cause big problems. One program out there is RivaTuner. Many gamers say that they adjust the fan speeds down below the manufacturer’s preset speeds with no problem. This will make the fans run slower and therefore quieter, but again, I don’t recommend this solution.

Check the Temp

You can monitor your computer’s internal temperature in BIOS or download a program that will let you easily see the information. Two to try are Speedfan and Motherboard Monitor. There are two main problems with this however - there is no recommended ‘safe’ temperature and most likely it’s going to tell you that the computer is running hot, which you already know. You can find out some temperature recommendations by finding out what your CPU type is and then looking at this chart on Technibble.

Cool it Down

There are a few easy things you can do to cool down the computer. If you’re not comfortable taking the case off, then see if you can find a friend to do it for you. You need to take the outer case off and blow compressed air at the fans, heatsinks and power supply. Accumulated dust and dirt can make the fans work harder than they should. Make sure that the vents aren’t blocked by something so that the hot air has a place to go. Some techs also advise setting up a desk fan to pull more hot air out of the PC, but then you have to deal with that noise as well, so it pretty well defeats the purpose.

The bottom line is that excessive fan noise is normal with heavy gaming. If your computer starts to act up or does not cool down after a period of rest, then you may have an overheating problem and you need to deal with that separately. In the meantime, a noisy fan is just a signal that the system is working as it should.

I like to play Runescape but whenever I run it, my computer shuts down! (It has had a memory dump before.) I get the following: Error 2229. Exception at ‘Y’ Height ‘X’ Width. (Or something like that, I don’t remember entirely.) This is a pain because when I do try to run Runescape or something that requires Java my computer completely SHUTS DOWN. I believe it’s an internal Java error that’s causing it and I understand that using RegCure will ‘probably’ fix it. However, before buying the product I want to be entirely sure that it will fix my computer of this error. Will it? Another concern is the cost of the product. I know that $40.00 sounds fair, but I wanted to know, before buying RegCure, if there was a way to fix my computer without spending any money whatsoever. If you could get back to me soon that would be great. Thank you.

A 2229 error signals that your computer has missing file systems or broken registry structures. Getting this error message is an important sign of an unstable system. You’re probably seeing it with Java related programs because it can mean that there is an installation error involving Windows Installer Service. Are you using a wireless system? A 2229 error can mean that a wireless link is dropping out when you are using Windows Installer. Windows can’t handle the errors so that the installation can continue.

Some techs advise downloading the Windows Service Pack 3 as a fix for 2229 errors. If the error is simply with the Windows Installer Service, then this might work for you and you won’t have to go any further or spend any more money.

In my opinion, the 2229 error you’re seeing is a registry error, particularly in light of the recent memory dump, and I’m guessing that you have problems with more than just the Installer Service. It is not specific to Runescape, but rather signals that your problems lie within your computer.

There are ways to get into the registry and manually locate and delete files, but this is something that should only be handled by a competent computer technician. Deleting the wrong thing in your registry can lead to many more problems and could result in an unrecoverable loss of data.

RegCure will fix registry errors such as this one and you can run a free scan from the website that will show you what problems you are having with your computer. It might be a good idea to run the free download and see if it discovers these kinds of registry errors if you are uncomfortable about paying for it first. The program will allow you to either scan and fix problems automatically, or give you the option of manually guiding the process, depending on how much control you want over the process.

Because error 2229 is a registry error, RegCure is a good solution. It may seem that $40 is a lot of money, but it is nothing compared to the cost of recovering lost data and rebuilding a machine - not to mention the cost of losing files that are irreplaceable.

It is difficult to determine where the problem lies without more information. For example, are you attempting to download the product, or do you have a CD ROM installation? You say you have a download from Encore - is that an update, or the game itself? What is happening when you try to run the Hoyle program? What system are you using? Hoyle Card Games do not support Windows XP or Vista 64-bit versions, so you must run them on a 32-bit system.

Clean Install

I can point you in a few directions here. The first thing to do is to make sure you are doing a “clean” install. You need to prepare the system for installing from a CD so that it will run properly.

1. Click on Start, then Run.

2. Type in msconfig when you see the dialog box. Click OK.

3. Click the Startup tab.

4. Write down all of the startup items that have a check mark in front of them.

5. Uncheck everything that is marked. Choose Apply and click Ok.

6. You will be prompted to restart the computer. Choose Yes.

7. Log on as Administrator. Close any antivirus programs that you have running. Some antivirus software will cause the program to load incorrectly.

8. Install the CD for the Hoyle program in the drive. It should launch the installation screens on its own.

9. After the program installs, follow the msconfig steps above and recheck each item in Startup as it was when you started.

10. Make sure you restart your antivirus protection.

Update Your Drivers

In order for the card games to run, you need to make sure you have your drivers updated for your video cards, sound cards and DVD drives. You can get Microsoft driver information by clicking on the link. You can also use a program like Driver Detective to find and update your system drivers.

If you have followed this advice and still can’t use your program, contact Encore technical support via email to see if they can give you more specific fixes for your problem. We’d be glad to help you further if you will provide some additional information on the exact nature of the problem.

In order to play most games that are downloaded from the Internet, one needs to have Macromedia Flash or Java installed on your computer. It depends on the game that you are downloading and attempting to play. Of course, other considerations might come into play such as operating systems, graphics cards, and memory.

Why Doesn’t the Arcade Game Play?

In order for most games to run properly, they must be installed completely, the computer must have certain applications installed, and the proper software must be installed as well. The reason that the Bagman arcade game is not playing properly for you is the simple fact that it is not strictly a legal download. This game was created by a French company and has been licensed to Stern. If the game were legally downloaded, it should have come with directions on how to get it to work.

Game Emulators

In order to play the majority of arcade games available on the Web today, you need to obtain a game emulator that will translate the game into playable mode. An emulator is a software application that is designed for specific types of games. It enables users to play games on the computer that were originally designed for other types of equipment.

JAE or the Java Arcade Emulator

The Java Arcade Emulator was designed in the late 1990s. It is designed to allow emulated games such as Bagman to play using Java-capable browsers.

Legality

In general, many of the arcade games that are available for download on the Internet are actually protected by copyright. Just because they are readily available does not mean that it is legal or ethical to download these games without purchasing them from the copyrighted owners. Some games are available for legal downloads. Technically, if you own a legal copy of the original game, you can sometimes download a legal copy from the Internet as well.

Hopefully, one of these should solve the issue for you. Read them over and try the ones that show promise for your situation.

Java Error Message after First Time Installation

Sometimes a faulty installation of Java can lead to error messages stating that you need to install it. To rule this possibility out, uninstall Java and then reinstall it.

Java Error Message after Using Java for Games

Sometimes Java will stop working properly with Pogo games if you have forgotten about updating your version. If you have had Java for some time, go to the Java website and check to see if you need an update. If you do, install it and the problem should go away.

Entering Pogo Game Rooms

In order to enter Pogo game rooms, you need to enable pop ups on your computer. If you aren’t even able to enter the game rooms, perhaps this is the problem. If you are using Internet Explorer, complete this path: Start→ Tools→ Pop Up Blocker Start→ Tools→ Click to Enable. The default setting in Internet Explorer is to disable pop ups. For Firefox, Go to Start→ Tools→ Options→ Content→ Check the box in front of “Block Pop Up Ads” → Click “Exceptions” → Type in http://www.pogo.com/→ Click “Allow”→ Click “ok”.

Enable Java to Load in Pogo Games

You also need to enable Java to load so you must configure it in your Web browser. In Internet Explorer, use these directions: Start→ Internet Options→ Advanced→ Click the box in front of Java→ Navigate to “Security”→ Click “Custom Level” → Click enable in front of “Scripting of Java Applets”→ Click ok. In Firefox, use these directions: Start→ Tools→ Options→ Content→ Check the box in front of “Java”→ Click “Exceptions” → Type in http://www.pogo.com/→ Click “Allow”→ Click “ok”.

Enable JavaScript to Load in Pogo Games

You also need to enable JavaScript to load so you must configure it in your Web browser.

To enable JavaScript in Firefox, use these directions: Start→ Tools→ Options→ Content→ Check the box in front of “JavaScript”→ Click “Exceptions” → Type in http://www.pogo.com/→ Click “Allow”→ Click “ok”.

Enable Images to Load in Pogo Games

You also need to enable images to load so you must configure it in your Web browser.

In Internet Explorer, use these directions: Start→ Internet Options→ Advanced→ Click the box in front of “load images”→ Click OK. In Firefox, use these directions: Start→ Tools→ Options→ Content→ Check the box in front of “Load Images Automatically”→ Click “Exceptions” → Type in http://www.pogo.com/→ Click “Allow”→ Click “OK.”

Update the Browser

In order to get your Java to work, you might need to update your browser. When was the last time that you did so? If it has been a while, visit the website for your particular browser and see if any recent upgrades are available. If they are, you need to download them.

Clear the Web Browser Cache

The support staff at Java suggests clearing the Web browser cache on a weekly basis if you are going to play Pogo games in order to resolve issues.

Atlantis appears to be a popular topic for computer games. A wide variety has been created from the Rise of Atlantis to the Fate of Atlantis to Beyond Atlantis to Atlantis and more.

Atlantis and Copyright Issues

One of the original Atlantis games was created for the Atari 2600 video game console and another for the Commodore computer. Both of these games were indeed copyrighted and technically, an individual should pay for any downloaded versions. Unfortunately, a number of websites provide free downloads for many software games that they believe to be classified as abandonware. Nonetheless, the copyright notifications might still apply. Without knowing the exact circumstances surrounding your possession of the game or the exact origination of the game, I can only offer general strategies for removing the game.

Uninstalling a Game with Corrupt Files

Sometimes game files can become corrupt through no fault of the user. Sectors go bad, hardware or software glitches occur, or malware infections interrupt normal functioning.

If the game that you are trying to delete has a corrupt file system, you can run the chkdsk utility to correct the errors and then try to delete it afterward. This process can take several hours if the drive that you are checking has a great deal of data on it. Follow these directions to run chkdsk:

Navigate to Start.

Select Run.

Type chkdsk/f<the letter of the drive where the corrupted file is located>:

Click ok.

Uninstalling a Game from Program Group

Many programs include an option to uninstall it. To check out this possibility, follow these directions:

Navigate to Start.

Select All Programs.

Select the specific program that you want to uninstall, in this case, Atlantis.

Select the “uninstall” option. Follow the prompts to remove the game from your computer. Most likely, you will be asked to reboot. Make sure that you have closed all other applications first and then reboot.

Uninstalling a Game Using the Add/Remove Utility

To uninstall a program using the Add/Remove Utility, follow these directions:

Navigate to Start.

Select Control Panel.

Select Add/Remove Programs.

Select the name of the program that you wish to remove and select remove.

Run Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware Application

If you are still having difficulty removing the application, run a reliable and up-to-date anti-virus/anti-spyware application to remove any unwanted bugs that might be disrupting your computer’s functioning. One reliable application is Anti-Virus PLUS by ParetoLogic and you can download it from this link: Anti-VirusPLUS.

Pogo games are among the hottest entertainment venues in today’s online world. How to Obtain Java 2 Runtime Environment [...]

Pogo games are among the hottest entertainment venues in today’s online world. In addition to downloading the games themselves, it is also necessary to download Java 2 Runtime Environment for the best playing scenario. For purposes of this answer, please note that Sun Java and Java are used interchangeably.

How to Obtain Java 2 Runtime Environment

Obtaining Java 2 Runtime environment is a simple process. All you need to do is to install Sun Java and Java 2 Runtime environment is automatically installed onto your computer.

How to Download and Install Sun Java

Follow these instructions to download and install Sun Java quickly and easily. This is a free download offered by Java. The instructions might vary somewhat since updates are made frequently.

Visit the Sun Java Download page at the following link: Sun Java.

Click the download button in the center of the screen.

Click “begin download.”

A security warning might pop up at this point. The warning is advising you that you are downloading an Active X control. You need to allow the installation of this Active X control in order to continue the download of Sun Java.

Next, a security warning might pop up advising you that you are downloading and installing J2SE Runtime Environment. You need to allow the installation, so click install.

Read the license agreement that pops up. Click on the statement that says something like “I accept.”

Click next.

At the prompt, click typical installation.

Click next.

Once the installation of Sun Java is complete, you should restart the computer. It is best to restart the computer now even though you are given the option to do so later.

Try out one of the available Pogo games to try out your installation of Sun Java.

What to Do if You Get a Java Error Message

If Java does not install properly, and this can happen, simply uninstall Java and reinstall it.

Updating Java

You should periodically check to see if any updated versions of Java have been produced by visiting the Java website. In general, once or twice a year should be sufficient.

Important Tips for Sound Issues in Pogo

Click the sound icon within a game in order to activate the sound. The icon looks like a small speaker. When the sound icon is turned on, small wavy lines seem to emanate from it.

Remember that in most cases, turning off the sound in one Pogo game will turn it off in all of the Pogo games.

If you use a secondary sound device such as a CD player through your computer while you are playing Pogo games, you will not get any sound with the game.
