Susan KeenanWhat is a Windows System 32 Error?

The Windows System32 error typically occurs due to a corrupted registry. System 32 is the heart and brains of your computer. Without it, the computer isn’t going to work as you have discovered.

Fixing the System 32 error: Boot up Using the Original Set Up Discs

If you have your original setup CD ROM available (the start up discs that came with your computer), insert the disc into the laptop. At the first screen, you need to select “r” to start the repair. If you don’t have a start up disc, contact the manufacturer of your computer and request one. See the directions below on how to set your BIOS to boot from CD ROM.

How to Set the BIOS to Boot from CD ROM

In order to use the repair console in the original setup CD ROM discs, you need to set your BIOS to boot up from the CD ROM. Turn the power to the computer on, insert the disc into the CD ROM drive, and immediately hit the “ESC” key and then the “F1″ key (once the check system appears) to change your boot up option from the hard drive to the CD ROM drive.

Fixing the System 32 error: Boot up in Safe Mode

You can also attempt to fix the problem by booting up in safe mode and selecting the “Last known good configuration” option.

Fixing the System 32 error: Registry Cleaner

Since the registry has been modified in some way that does not allow your computer to boot up fully, cleaning the registry is in order. Unless you already have one, you should download and install a registry cleaner and run it on your computer after booting up in safe mode. I can recommend RegCure which offers a free scan that will show you any potential problems with files that need to be corrected.

Susan KeenanThe blue screen error is a serious one since it might reflect problems with the hard drive and corrupted files. It can also be caused by viruses. Either way, it’s a system failure that needs to be dealt with quickly. Follow the suggestions below and hopefully, the problem will be resolved for you.

Blue Screen Error Messages

If your blue screen error also comes with an error message, take not of it. You can visit the website for Microsoft and get specific details on fixing the problem.

Boot up in Safe Mode

Since “Safe Mode” uses a minimal number of drivers, files, etc upon boot up, it is the best way to attempt a maneuver around the blue screen error. Once you get the computer on, you can follow the next few strategies. To boot up in Safe Mode, turn the power on for the computer and start to press the “F8″ key on the keyboard. Once the boot up menu appears, select “Last Known Good Configuration.” Now, press the enter key. Follow the prompts and the computer should boot up.

Run Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware Application

Since it is possible that a virus is causing havoc with your computer, that is the next logical step. First, visit the website for the anti-virus application that you downloaded and check for updates. Once you have done that, you can run it to see what it comes up with.

Faulty Installations

If the blue screen first started appearing after a recent download or software installation, it is possible that the installation was faulty. If you start to have problems again, consider uninstalling the application to see if it makes a difference. You can always attempt a clean installation afterward if you want.

Insufficient RAM

It is also possible that your computer does not have enough RAM. You should check to see how much your computer has and add some if it isn’t sufficient. A good rule of thumb is to have 500 MB of RAM or more. To check the RAM on your computer:

  • open My Computer (double click the icon)
  • Open “C: Drive”
  • Open “Properties”

Susan KeenanIn order to attempt to fix this problem, I am going to take you through a few different strategies. Hopefully one of them will be successful. It’s unfortunate, but it isn’t always possible to know exactly why computer problems occur. However, the most likely solution is posted first, so please try that one before using any of the other suggestions.

Scanning for Viruses and Spyware

The presence of a computer virus or spyware on the computer can lead to programs opening randomly when not elicited. The most likely culprit here is a virus. If you have an anti-spyware/anti-virus application installed on your computer, you should run it to remove any viruses or forms of spyware. Sometimes it might be necessary to reboot and scan your computer again.

Make sure that you are using a reliable anti-spyware/anti-virus application that is current. If you don’t have an application at this time, I recommend getting Anti-Virus Plus. This application offers a free scan that will tell you what viruses and spyware are on your computer if any. Then, you can purchase the application to remove them. You can also use another free program that also has a paid version, AVG.

Clean the Registry

In case your registry files have become corrupted, you can run a reliable registry cleaner to put everything back in order. An application that does an excellent job of this is RegCure. It does a thorough job of sorting files out and putting everything back into good working order.

Use Safe Mode

You can also boot your computer up in Safe Mode. To do so, turn the computer on, immediately begin to press the “F8″ key on the keyboard. When the boot menu comes up, select “Last Known Good Configuration,” and press enter.

Use “System Restore”

You can also use the “System Restore” feature to set your computer back to a previous time prior to the problem. To use System Restore, follow this path:

Start→ All Programs→ Accessories→ System Tools→ System Restore. Select “Restore my computer to an earlier time,” and click on next. If you have a virus on the computer, using this utility is not going to work so make sure you scan for viruses as mentioned above first.

Random Openings

In some cases, it is possible that clicking a link in a webpage or on a browser might open an application that you have on the computer. However, if the problems that you are having are frequent, it is unlikely that this is the problem.

Task Scheduler

Another possibility is that you have events scheduled in Task Scheduler. For example, if you have set up Task Scheduler to perform disc cleaning operations each week, the Disc Cleanup utility will launch. Perhaps, Media Center has been scheduled to perform some function at regular intervals. Task Scheduler is located under Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Task Scheduler.

Susan KeenanWhat is System 32?

System 32 is an important facet of any computer since it is the heart or brains of the machine. Without it, the computer isn’t going to perform properly. System 32 is generally hidden from the user in order to prevent accidental changes.

What is a System 32 error?

The system 32 error is an important error, one that cannot be ignored. When errors associated with system 32 occur, it means that problems are going to get worse if it isn’t corrected.

Fixing the System 32 error: Boot up in Safe Mode

The first and simplest fix to try with a system 32 error is to boot up in Safe Mode and correct the problem. Booting up in Safe Mode uses the least number of applications and drivers, so it should work especially when booting up normally does not.

To boot up in Safe Mode, follow these directions:

1)      Turn the computer’s power on.

2)      Press the “F8″ key on the keyboard continually until you can see the boot menu.

3)      Select “Boot up using Last Known Good Configuration.”

This strategy should allow your computer to boot up and the problem should be resolved. If it isn’t, then your friend will need to continue with the next strategy listed below.

Fixing the System 32 error: Registry Cleaner

Using one of the many registry cleaners that are available today to repair the computer’s registry and do away with the system 32 error is an easy task. It is necessary to download the registry cleaner software and run it to fix the problem. However, you will have the application to use at anytime in the future should another problem with the registry occur. One registry cleaner application that I can recommend is RegCure. It offers a free scan and shows you what problems it can fix on the computer. It also has the following features:

  • Automatic or manual repair
  • Built in scheduler
  • Backup and restore feature
  • View of scan progress
  • Easy customization

Kat DelongLightscribe

Lightscribe is a DVD/CD burner that is installed on many PCs. Somehow it has gone missing from your computer. Have you installed any new programs or altered the computer recently? There are several things you can try to get your CDs to play again. Let’s try them in order.

Automatic Startup

First, try this fix.

  1. Go to Start and then Run. In the dialog field, type in services.msc. Click Ok.
  2. Search for Lightscribe Service Direct Disc Labeling Service.
  3. In Status, check to see if the service is Started. If it is not, double click on it to open Properties.
  4. Make sure Startup is set to Automatic. Click Start. Click Ok to close the window.

Reboot your computer to see if this takes effect and solves the problem. If not, try the next solution.

Diagnostic Utility

You can try to run the automatic Lightscribe Diagnostic Service by clicking on the link. This is a Windows utility that will scan your computer and fix many common problems. If this doesn’t work for you, continue to the next step.

HP Driver Updates

Do you have an HP computer? Lightscribe is installed on many HP computers, and users have been able to cure their problems with this installation by using the HP Driver Firmware Update.

System Restore

If this is something that has just happened recently, you can try to do a System Restore if everything else fails to solve the problem. System Restore is just like a ‘snapshot’ of your computer that is taken automatically at certain times. When you have a computer problem like this, rolling the system back to an earlier time can solve the problem and bring the system back the way it was.

  1. Go to Start and then All Programs.
  2. Click on Accessories and then choose System Tools.
  3. Click on System Restore. You will see a Welcome Screen.
  4. Click “Restore my computer to an earlier time”.
  5. Click Next. You will select a restore point. You should pick a date just before the problem started. Click Next and then confirm the date.
  6. Click Next. The computer will shut down and reboot.
  7. When you see “Restoration Complete”, Click Ok.

If you are still having problems and you do have an HP computer, I would contact them directly to find a more specific solution. If not, contact Lightscribe using the above link.

Susan KeenanThe “Exchange Extensions” Error Message

Typically, this message occurs when opening Outlook or attempting to send an email. In fact, it’s been reported that this error is often generated when using the following method to send an email: right-clicking on a message, pointing to “send to,” and clicking on the mail recipient. This process leads to corrupted exchange extensions.

Fixing the Exchange Extension Error: Install Service Pack

The Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack is designed to stop this error message from generating. If you have not yet installed this service pack, you should do so in an attempt to eliminate the problem.

Fixing the Exchange Extension Error: Use the Detect and Repair Feature

Although this fix does not seem to work for everyone, there has been some success with it. You can attempt to use the “detect and repair” feature for Outlook and see if that will work for you. Follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to “Add/Remove Programs,” which you can access in the “Control Panel.”
  2. Select Outlook.
  3. Select “change and repair.”
  4. Open Outlook.
  5. The “detect and repair” prompt should appear. Allow this feature to run. This should eliminate the problem for you.

Fixing the Exchange Extension Error: Modify the Registry

In the event that the installation of the service pack or the “detect and repair” feature do not correct the problem for you, you can modify the registry to get around the “Exchange Extensions” error message. Please note that modifying the registry is a tricky process that could lead to problems with your computer if it is not done correctly. Back up your registry before you make the modifications. This way, if something does go wrong, you can restore your registry back to the way it was before making the mistake.

Follow these directions to modify the registry in a way that eliminates the “Exchange Extensions” error:

  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Navigate to Start.
  3. Click run.
  4. Type regedit in the empty box that appears.
  5. Click ok.
  6. Expand the view of the registry for easy viewing.
  7. Select this subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
  8. Right click on Exchange Extensions
  9. Click delete.
  10. Click yes in order to confirm these changes and the deletion of the Exchange Extensions string value.
  11. Click on the “file” menu and click exit.
