What is Realtek Audio Manager?
Realtek is a manufacturer that provides sound devices for use on computers. Realtek's Audio Manager is designed to properly handle the audio system so that the sound quality you get is good.
Realtek Audio Manager Default Settings
The default settings are designed to provide quality sound without the need to do much tweaking or changing of the set up. You can opt to leave the settings at the default selection or switch over to another setting. Unfortunately, the only way to determine which setting is best for quality sound is going to be to complete a bit of trial and error. In general though, the default settings are generally sufficient for most computers, speakers, and sound peripherals.

While the default setting offers good quality sound in most instances, personal preference, room conditions, and equipment (speakers, headphones, etc) are going to play a part in how you configure your audio manager settings. If you find that you are happy with the quality of the audio when you have the default setting selected, you may decide to opt not to play around with the settings. At any rate, you can always set them back to the default and start over if you decide that you don't like the settings that you have selected.
Configuring Realtek Audio Manager Settings
The best strategy for figuring out where to place your audio settings is to select a good reference piece for your trial-and-error strategy. Go into the settings and play around with them, one at a time until you come up with the sound that pleases your ear. For example, select "carpeted room" and see if the sound changes noticeably. It's important to note that this type of setting is different for everyone since it depends on the size of the room involved as well as the thickness of the carpeting.
You need to play around with the frequency settings as well as the volume. During the early stages when you are troubleshooting, you should keep the volume setting at normal for the best results. Pay close attention to the sound quality while listening to each new change that you have made. Keep practicing until you find the settings that offer the best quality given your surroundings.
