How do I open a .cso file? I have downloaded a Harry Potter game with a .cso file extension. Help?
CSO Files and the PSP
If you’ve heard of ISO files, you will soon see a resemblance when you learn more about CSO files. As you may know, ISO files are disk image files that allow you to create an image of a CD or DVD as a file and then access the file on your hard drive without having to insert your CD or DVD into the disk drive each time you want to use it. In the case of CSO files, they are compressed ISO image files that are used on the Sony PSP.
Opening CSO Files
Several utilities are available for opening .cso files including CisoPlus, UMDGen, and CiSO Converter. It looks as though CiSO Converter is a “home brew” PSP program, so use caution before downloading it. It is appears to have a solid following of fans and is mentioned frequently as a solution on user forums.
Loading ISOs to the PSP
Several utilities are available for loading ISOs and CSOs on your PSP. One such utility is called DevHook. This too appears to be a “home brew” application and is also mentioned frequently in user forums.
Harry Potter Game Help
The Harry Potter Half Blood Prince game for the PSP is an Electronic Arts game. If you purchased the product directly from EA.com, consider contacting support for assistance installing it on your PSP. If you bought it from a third party reseller, try the reseller’s site to see if additional assistance is available.
Likewise, Sony’s Playstation.net site has information about installing games to the PSP. Typically, the games are downloaded to the Memory Stick which is then inserted into the PSP or by connecting the PSP to the computer with a USB cable. If you purchased the game from Sony’s Playstation store, you can find contact information based on region here.
Sony is strict about modifying the PSP. If the game you have is from a legitimate source, then it should be compatible with your PSP device as is (if your PSP device meets the game’s system requirements of course).
