Google Installer Error

I keep getting the following error message: Google Installer has encountered a problem. Do you have a suggestion how to eliminate this pop up on my screen? I get it about every hour. Thanks.

Susan Keenan"Google Installer has encountered a problem" Error

Most likely, your computer is infected with some type of malware. The "Google Installer has encountered a problem" message is a common one that will appear when certain types of insidious programs have latched onto your computer. Follow that instructions listed below to rid your computer of this problem. You might want to print the directions out so that they are accessible as you go about this process. First, you'll have to boot up into "Safe Mode" and then you'll need to run an up-to-date anti-spyware/anti-virus application.

Booting up into "Safe Mode"

To boot up into "Safe Mode," turn the power to your computer on. As soon as you hear the first "beep" sound, you need to press the "F8" key on the keyboard continually. If you wait until Windows starts to load onto your computer, you'll have to start over. Once you are in "Safe Mode," scan for spyware and viruses.

Scan the Computer for Spyware/Viruses

If you have an anti-spyware/anti-virus application, check the website for updates and install any that exist. Next, download the update. Finally, run the application on your computer to remove any infections. Anti-VirusPLUS is an excellent application that you can use to rid your computer of problem applications.

Pointers Concerning Anti-spyware/Anti-virus Applications

Caution should be exercised when installing anti-spyware/anti-virus applications onto your computer. While it is often recommended to use more than one application, it is important that only one of these applications include a "resident" or "live" feature. This is primarily due to the fact that these applications will conflict with each other, potentially identifying the other as "spyware." One reputable "non-resident" anti-spyware/anti-virus application is Ad-Aware. You could easily use this application in conjunction with your "resident" anti-spyware/anti-virus application (AVG or SpyBot) without experiencing any problems.

Legitimate Errors Installing Google Chrome

The Google Chrome Installer has some known problems that create errors at the moment. However, these will appear with a number rather than a message. Plus, the error produces a link for possible solutions although some of these errors do not currently have a solution.

After the Scan

If the problem still exists after the scan, you can uninstall and reinstall the Google Installer Toolbar to resolve the problem.

I had the problem you described here.
I uninstalled ALL the google programs. With no exeprions still:
    1. i cannot access webpages that contain antiviruses (kaspersky, panda, norton, avg and few others)
    2. I cannot install those (downloaded from other pc)
    3. Same story with antimalaware software
    4. in safe mode it installs any antivirus but none of them works (in safe mode they dont get results in normal mode they just stop working when "google installer error" pops up.
    5. It's an eee pc so it does not have cdrom instead it uses a backup program. when i start it (to restore a functioning bk) it says there was an exeption, to press continue to ignore it. i do and then all tops working. It ays COME Exeption.
Many people just said me to get rid of that eee pc. Could you help me?
