How often have I deleted a file sending it to the recycle bin, emptied the recycle bin, and then, never given it a second thought? Once upon a time, I did this quite often, assuming that the file was gone forever. However, now I know better than that since I have learned that deleted files are never actually gone forever unless certain steps are taken.
In fact, how many times have you viewed a television show or read a newspaper article in which deleted files were retrieved from someone's hard drive during an official investigation? Haven't you wondered how that was possible? Didn't it make you think about what is actually stored on your own personal or business computer?

After all, once you click delete on the computer screen or keyboard, the file is gone forever, right? Wrong and you know this is wrong because you also know that you must empty the recycle bin in order to properly dispose of deleted files. Plus, you know that once you empty that recycle bin, you cannot find any documents that you deleted, especially the ones that were deleted by accident.
Haven't you ever wondered where these files go to next after you have deleted them form your computer's hard drive? Did you perhaps think that they went into cyberspace or some hidden trash dump located on your computer? Would you be surprised to discover that they might still be on your computer? In fact, these deleted files do not go into cyberspace, nor do they magically disappear. They are however still on your computer in a hidden capacity until circumstances changes this. In fact, you could probably locate some of your deleted files by using a file recovery application to search for their internal file structure.
